. Broadly in a fairly poor state of preservation. There is a significant vertical split to the panel which runs full length top to bottom approx 2 cm from edge and slightly on the diagonal. There is general deterioration and some lifting to surface and paint to all edges. Various losses and surface scratches mostly contained within the background immediately above the Madonnas's left shoulder, the lower part of her cloak on the right hand side, the lower part of her gown, further small losses within the black cloak of the attendant saint to lower left hand side and also the face hands and collar of the cloak within lower right hand side. These detail the main scuffs and losses but not exclusively. Areas of fine stable craquelure. Significant layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Sold as found.

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
