An Early Printed and Hand-Coloured Fan, the double paper leaf mounted on plain, slender ivory sticks, with mother of pearl thumb guards. The print depicts a rural scene, close to a river, a carriage with three horses and driver approaching a gate or tollhouse, en route to an estate with church that can been seen in the distance. The verso is plain. Guard length 9.75 inches or 25cm. Together with a carved and pierced bone (?) fan, circa 1860's, mounted with a cream silk satin leaf printed with a gentle courting scene, a maid carrying what could be a wool skein being shown attention by a country lad in striped socks and colourful waistcoat. The verso is plain. Shaped metal loop fitted with a slender cream silk tassel. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cm (2)

. Fan 1 - monture slightly warped, two holes in the leaf to the left, generally quite grubby, foxing seen from the verso. Fan 2 - A small repair to the mid/upper section of the upper guard. Missing the top edge border in places. Seen from the verso, staining to the top edge and sides, some wear to the backing fabric on the lower border.
