An Unusual Circa 1880's Lace Fan, the leaf a tape lace with varied needle lace fillings, possibly Luxeuil/Branscombe, (certainly similar), laid over cerise/salmon silk satin, backed with cream silk. Worked centrally in the lace, the initials M.P. The monture, attractively mottled mother-of-pearl shaded green/ pink, is probably burgau. Gold metal loop with knotted silk tassel, worked with metal threads. Guard length 9.5 inches or 24cm; Together with a mixed Brussels lace fan, early 20th century, the leaf of mainly bobbin lace mounted on white mother-of-pearl. Central to the leaf, a single needle lace flower with one raised petal layer is applied to net. Contained in an unlabelled box, a note inside proclaiming it to be a belated birthday gift from Ada to Anne Muriel (?). Guard length 8.5 inches or 21.5cm (2)

Sold for £200
Estimated at £140 - £200

. Three gorge sticks could have been repaired down near the rivet, hard to tell. The silk and silk tassel are faded, so quite pale to the left side, brighter cerise to the right. The lace appears to be the original colour but is slightly grubby. Second fan in good order.
