Restaurant MONICO And Brasserie Universelle: Two Early 20th Century Paper Advertising Fans, the first advertising a restaurant opened in 1906, at 66 Rue PIGALLE, PARIS. MONTMARTRE and proclaimed to be "The GAYEST ESTABLISHMENT IN PARIS" with "Tziganes, Attractions and Dances". Open all night. The recto shows a grand salle with diners seated and dancers in the centre. The recto is plain. Guard length 8.25 inches or 21cm. In contrast the Brasserie Universelle was located at 31, Avenue de l'Opera Paris. The recto shows the exterior, with early motor vehicles, horse-drawn carriages, and couples strolling. The reserves are printed with roses. Printed by Chambrelent. Guard length 8.5 inches or 22cm (2)

. Both fans have very slight wear to the leaf edges, the Universelle being also rubbed on folds, but are generally good for their age.
