A Pair of Late 18th Century Flintlock Officer's/Duelling Pistols by Robert Wogdon of London, each with 26cm octagonal steel barrel signed Wogden, London to the top flat, with engraved and sighted tang, the signed lock plate with safety catch, set trigger, walnut full stock with blued steel ramrod pipes and foliate engraved trigger guards with acorn finials, flat sided swelling butt with foliate engraved blued steel pommel, the original wood ramrod with steel worm and brass screw top which acts as a powder measure (one action inoperative)

Sold for £6,000
Estimated at £2,000 - £3,000

Each has orange rust patching to the barrel and metalwork with some pitting. The blueing to the ramrod pipes, trigger guard and pommel is generally good. Minor scratches and bruising, but no cracks or breaks to the well figured walnut stock. One has a small piece of brass missing from around the threaded end of ramrod tip. The action of the other does not work properly. In good sleepy condiition. Would clean up nicely.
