A First/Second World War MC Group of Five Medals, awarded to MAJOR C.(Cecil) COTTON, comprising Military Cross (George V - Salonica), 1914 Star with Mons clasp 5TH AUG.- 22ND NOV.1914 (2ND LIEUT. A.S.C.), British War Medal, Victory Medal with MID oak leaf, and Defence Medal, swing mounted as worn, together with photocopied research material including Medal Rolls, Record of Service, MID Card, Casualty Form in Active Service, Medal Index Cards.
Footnote :- Cecil Cotton was awarded the Military Cross for gallant and distinguished services in connection with Military Services in Salonica. In 1920, he was recorded as Assistant Managing Director of Cook, Son & Co. (St Paul's) Limited, Warehousemen and Textile Dealers, in 1935 he was Managing Director, and in 1943, as retiring Director.

The sale will include a large selection of Victorian, First and Second World War and Post-War medals and Civil awards, and a variety of cap and other badges, cloth insignia and helmet plates.
A good private collection offers Victorian and Edwardian military headgear and a number of scarlet tunics to local regiments including the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, the Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment) and the Northumberland Fusiliers.
Edged weapons include a private collection of British Cavalry swords, alongside bayonets and fighting knives; and from a further private vendor is a good collection of antique firearms, pistols and revolvers.
The ethnographic section of the sale will see notable tribal weapons from Fiji and Australia.
