Muriel Metcalfe (1910-1994) ''Heaton, Bradford'' Signed, blue ink and watercolour, together with two further signed watercolour examples by the same artist of a landscape and of pastoral subject matter, 27.5cm by 37cm 27.5cm by 33cm respectively (3) (unframed) Artist's Resale Rights/Droit de Suite may apply to this lot, please refer to our Terms of Business See illustration Leyburn born Muriel Metcalfe, painted landscapes, portraits and figures in watercolour and pastel. She studied at Newcastle upon Tyne School of Art and met fellow artist Fred Lawson (see lots 18 - 31) when he became her tutor. The two married in 1933 and settled in a cottage in Castle Bolton where they continued to paint together throughout their lives. Muriel Metcalfe was also mother to Sonia Lawson (see lot 64).

All the pictures in this lot are unframed. Slight age related staining to paper but colours are strong.
