A Pair of Chelsea Gold Anchor Period Porcelain Baluster Vases and Covers, circa 1760, of lobed form with pierced covers and necks, painted with lovers in landscape with applied foliate borders, on four scroll feet, painted marks, 23cm high

In the 1770 catalogue of Sprimont's Last Sale were listed "two beautiful heart shap'd vases ornamented with jessamine flowers and finely enamelled". A vase of the same shape with a mazzarine ground is in the Jones Collection in the Victoria & Albert Museum

One cover with 5mm section of pierced moulding missing, and extended firing crack to rim. One cover with finial re-glued. The other with loss to the finial and two opposing rim cracks. One vase with several sections of neck repaired and one foot restored, this is fully oversprayed but with original body underneath. The other vase with factory tears to foot and centre of the back. Some losses to applied decoration throughout both examples. Gilding and enamels good. No visible signs of previously fitted handles
