One inscribed verso 'Austen or Austin Collection, 'Sothebys' 1996, Lot 1970 (English School, circa 1770); it portrays a gentleman, is circular on paper? or vellum?. There is a small mark/scratch in the upper left corner, a small dark area behind the man's neck and near the jacket. There is dirt behind the glass with light foxing to the surface of the paper. There is a shine to the paper giving the impression it may have some gum arabic to the work. The lady in the blue and lace dress also has an inscription 'Miss Sorsbie of Benridge', colours are good, some dirt underside of glass. Third miniature is later in date and poorer quality, on paper, fairly good colour in gilt metal frame, inscribed on later brown tape label 'Asuten Collection 1996, Sale Sothebys circa 1810
