Playing Cards - Various Makers.
Sutton & Co., Fifty-one playing cards (of 52, lacking 5C), AS dated 1703 [but later], a typed card with the pack suggests sometime between 1703 and 1712 and states ‘almost certainly the only surviving pack of its kind in the world’. The worn slipcase holding the cards is inscribed ‘published 13th year of reign of George III’ (c.1773) though it is not known if this relates to these cards;

Gibson (1769-1801), Garter Ace, No. 140, no date, thirty-two cards (of 52);
Josiah Stone (1812-c.1825), Garter Ace, No 19, Geo III, [c.1815], fifty-two cards;
T. Wheeler (1799-1821), Garter Ace No. 77, Geo III, fifty-two cards;
W. Wheeler (1821-1828), Garter Ace, fifty-two cards. (6)

Since the lot has appeared online, we have received correspondance from a collector, advising that the Sutton deck is likely to be post 18th century. The 51 cards been photographed for the benefit of prospective bidders.
