An Early 19th Century Ivory Brisé Fan, the gothic stick tips painted gold, beneath which are painted a selection of small flowers or birds, the birds with applied feathers. Below the ribbon, a horizontal painted band, a gold flower on each alternate stick, between delicate and colourful floral sprays. A similar band of the colourful flowers is painted at a lower point, just above the shaped gorge. Plain guards. Guard length approx. 7.25 inches or 18.5cm. Together with A Later Ivory Fan, circa 1860's, the wide sticks shaped and pierced, the cream fabric leaf embroidered to one side in the Chinese fashion, with brightly coloured flowers, birds and butterflies, the verso painted in the Macau fashion with exotic birds and flowers. Fitted with a double silk tassel Guard length approx. 10.5 inches or 26cm (2)

. Ribbon defective on the brisé. The leaf on the embroidered fan is foxed with some damage to the lower border edge.
