A board visible behind at stretcher at the reverse. The frame slip has been damaged at the top. The picture plane is flat and even, the canvas appears firmly adhered to the board, but the surface is a little lumpy/uneven in places. There are approx. 15 long lines of filling and overpaint, some approx. 1.5ft long, to losses to the paint and ground. It is not clear what has caused this damage, and the retouching is a little discoloured in places (see images). All are currently stable. A few patches of stable, flat brittle age craquelure. There are patches of mould growth to the surface of the picture - most in the bottom left corner, with a few more smaller patches along bottom edge and right corner. Also mould growing from cracks on Christ's chest. Even surface gloss, possibly slighly yellowed varnish. Layer of surface dirt.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to Prospective Buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale.

We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a condition report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.

Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated.
