. In an overall good and stable state of preservation. Original canvas. Small patch of fine retouching to the bridge of the sitters nose. With some general delicate infilling to his hair and the curl around the ear area. Some general strengthening to elements of his jacket - especially his should decoration on his right and left hand side. Patch of infilling to the edge, generally in line with his shoulder and the odd further small amount elsewhere of which some can be seen with the naked eye, including a further vertical patch in line with his right hand cheek, approx. 4 cm in length. Minor rubbing to top edge. Medium to large sized stable craquelure throughout. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish.
