Marked under one foot with H&H maker's mark, each in individual circular shield. With a further bird trademark in a further individual shield. Stamped '2221' under another foot. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. One foot slightly bruised/pushed up and does not sit flat on a level surface. The hinge pin sitting slightly proud on one side. There is some discolouration and cracking to the ivory handle. See extra images.

Auction: 20th Century Design, 4th Oct, 2025
This October, a century of Mouseman furniture will come under the hammer in the 20th Century Design Sale, with pieces ranging from a pre-Mouse table from the 1920s all the way through to a set of chairs made in the 2020s.
The sale will feature one of the most important private collections of Mouseman to appear at Tennants. Comprising over forty lots of Mouseman and ten lots by other Yorkshire Critter Carvers, the collection was carefully curated by Colin and Doreen Stott of West Yorkshire, and every piece has been immaculately cared for. Colin and Doreen Stott, farmers by trade, began their collecting journey in 1987 during a visit to North Yorkshire. It was there they discovered the renowned furniture maker Robert Thompson. This sparked a keen interest in finely crafted woodwork, which grew into a remarkable collection of rare and distinctive pieces. Their passion led them to explore the work of the Yorkshire Critters influenced by Thompson’s legacy, each with their unique hallmark. Over the years it became more than a hobby but a source of great pleasure and pride of ownership.
Also included in the sale is a unique early miniature octagonal table measuring just 29.5cm high, and a good 1930s/40s, well-patinated, dressing table mirror.
The sale will also include good 20th Century Design Furniture by leading designers, a Private Collection of Studio Pottery, and a Private Collection of Moorcroft.
