A Chinese Porcelain Double Gourd Moonflask (Bianping), Xuande style, after a Middle Eastern metalwork example, with bulbous-shaped neck flanked by moulded strap handles with spade terminals, with circular body over a shallow rectangular foot, painted in underglaze blue with starburst motifs under formal borders

The top bulb shaped section with one large and one small piece broken and re stuck with some small shards lacking. Another crack issuing from this area. An almost invisible glaze crack around on upper handle terminal. No professional restoration.

Coming up in the Autumn Asian Art Sale is a good mix of Chinese and Japanese ceramics and works of art.
Highlights of the sale include a Chinese Flambe-Glazed Bottle Vase, Qing Dynasty, probably Qianglong, and a Chinese Guan-Type Meiping, possibly Ming, both with provenance from renowned Asian art dealer Sydney Moss. Also of interest is a Chinese Porcelain Bottle Vase, with Jiaqing reign mark and probably of the period.
The sale will also offer a private collection of Japanese works of art, featuring such lots as a good Pair of Japanese Bronze and Mixed Metal Vases, Meiji period, decorated with birds, flowers and kanji seal tablets.
