Voysey was under contract to both Alexander Morton and Tomkinson's to provide a certain number of designs each year.

Michael Tomkinson (1841-1921) of Franche Hall was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, the son of a mercer/draper. In partnership with textile engineer, William Adam, he established Tomkinson Carpets in 1869.

For similar designs see The drawings collection of the RIBA held at the print room of the Victoria and Albert museum. Voysey donated important archival and source material to the Victoria and Albert museum, the British museum and the Royal Institute of British Architects in a series of gifts between 1913 and 1930.
