Collection of many hundreds of stamps, somewhat untidy, in three stockbooks and loose pages, the main book with line-engraved incl. penny blacks 2 margins and no margins, imperf 1d reds incl. from black plates (none four margins), 1841 2d blue pair four margins needing care to unstick from page, perf 2d blue plates incl. pl.9 mint, 1d red plates complete to pl.224, etc. Then mixed condition surface-printed range through to a useful range of mint and used Wildings and beyond incl. watermark varieties. Will reward organisation.

261 lots including several exciting original collections fresh to the market. Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
