A Pair of Derbyshire "Blue John" Spar Pedestal Urns and Covers, early 19th century, each shallow domed cover with acorn finial, the bodies with attractive deep purple, amber and yellow inclusions and veining, on white marble short pedestal stems and circular feet, on fossilitic black marble square plinths, 25cm high

Vase 1 - cracks to the lid with old (lead?) repairs. Finial restored and old repairs now disintergrating. The body with general chipping around the rims. Chip on the upper knop of the short white marble stem. Chip on angle of black marble base. Vase 2 - finial restuck. Lid with cracks (lead?) repairs. Chip and general chippings around the rim of the vessel. Some natural craters in the main body have been filled with some sort of acretion. Chip at the top of the white marble stem. Some stress cracks here. Chip on one angle of the black marble base. Sold a/f. 100609
