A K.C.M.G., C.B., Group of Eleven Medals Awarded to Major General Sir Robert Samuel Findlay Henderson, comprising:- Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of St. Michael and St. George Neck Badge and Star, gilt and enamel, in Garrard & Co. case of issue, with ribbons, warrant and associated letter; Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Military Division Neck Badge, gilt and enamel, in Garrard & Co. case of issue with ribbons; an Indian (incorrectly) court mounted group comprising India General Service Medal 1854, with four clasps BURMA 1885-7, BURMA 1887-89, CHIN-LUSHAI 1889-90 and BURMA 1889-92, named to Surgn.R.S.F. Henderson, Medl.Staff; Egypt Medal, with clasp SUAKIN 1885 named to SURGN. R.S.F. HENDERSON.MED:STAFF; Khedives Star 1884-6; India Medal 1896, with clasp PUNJAB FRONTIER 1897-98, named to Major R.S.Henderson R.A.M.C.; Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, with five clasps CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE, TRANSVAAL, SOUTH AFRICA 1901 and SOUTH AFRICA 1902, named to MAJOR R.S.F.HENDERSON, R.A.M.C.; and Coronation Medal 1911, together with the miniatures; also an Order of St. John Officer's Silver and Enamel Breast Badge and a Red Enamelled Silver Breast Jewel, in the form of a cross, possibly to the United Religious and Military Orders of the Temple and Hospital, with three appointment certificates and another to the Supreme Council fo the XXXIII Degree. All sold together with the recipient's passport and his officer's No.1 dress peaked cap
** Robert Samuel Findlay Henderson was born in Calcutta 11th December 1858. He was educated at Bedford Grammar School and Fettes College, Edinburgh, followed by St Mary's Hospital, London. He entered the Army Medical Service in 1884 and was mentioned in despatches Burma 1886-91. He was Secretary to the Royal Veterinary Hospital at Netley, Honorary Physician to the King, 1911 and New Zealand Medical Services 1915-19. He retired with the rank of Temporary Surgeon General in 1917, and died 5th October 1924
