The artist was born in Creswick, Victoria, Australia. He joined the staff of "The Bulletin" in Sydney and was chief cartoonist for many years. He published many books and lived in New South Wales

The first example is somewhat time stained around the margins and the outer mount worm eaten and time stained very badly, there is some light foxing to the margins and the image itself, the paper does not appear to be laid down as it is rather wavy in places, There is dirt to the underside of the glass and it is contained within a rather scratched and somewhat dilapidated simple black wooden frame. The second example is unframed and is somewhat creased and dog-eared around the edges. There is some time staining to the margins with some light particles of dirt to both the margins and print itself. It has been hardboard backed with acid free hardboard and is wrapped in cellophane (060711)
