Mint and used collection on album pages (from Lot 107), with some of the scarce issues usually missing from collections. Includes first issues QV surcharges mint, 2/6d blue paper superb used, 1893 40pa handstamp mint and used (both with old expert marks, though possibly not correct), KEVII incl. 4pi on 10d 'no cross on crown' used, 1906 Beirut issue 1 Piastre surcharge on 2d (SG.15) used with light registration cancel, with 1974 BPA certificate, as well as a good range of KGV with surcharges on seahorses to 10/- mint and used incl. 45pi on 2/6d major re-entry marginal mint example, various better shades, through to Salonica 'Levant' ovpts on ½d and 1d used presumed forgeries and not counted. Catalogue over £4,900.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
