A Matched Set of Eight Mid 19th Century Yewwood and Elm-Seated Windsor Armchairs, one stamped Nicholson Rockley, each with low double spindle back supports and pierced splats above curved armrests and spindle turned supports, with elm moulded seats and ring turned legs joined by a crinoline stretcher, 58cm by 43cm by 91cm See illustration

. Chair 1 - structurally sound. Some old decay under seat. Some glue marks around legs. Stamped Nicholson Rockley. Chair 2 - structurally sound. Some old decay around splat. Left hand arm with small peg repair. Small natural splits in seat. Chair 3 - slight movement in frame. Small fault/repair under arm support above spindle support. Crinoline stretcher with glue/repair marks at the rear section. Chair 4 - back support is damaged. Chair 5 - structurally sound. Rear left leg with small fill hole above crinoline stretcher. Chair 6 - slight movement in framework. Numerous scuffs and faults around legs and feet. Seat with some very small minor natural splits. Chair 7 - some very slight movement in joints. Heavy decay to legs, particularly rear left leg which has been ebonised. Rear right foot also retipped. Chair 8 - structurally sound. Some fill holes/polishing around the curved back support between the spindles. Elm seat split towards front which has been partly filled and polished. All chairs a good colour. 041019
