Covered in a layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Craquelure throughout. Some minor areas of paint loss. There is a vertical line of cracking approximately 20cm in length below the centre of the horse and an area where the paint is flaking above this (see images). There is an area of paint loss to the centre of the sky to the left of the horses head. There are a number of spots of a sticky substance, especially evident to the bottom of the horse's mane, to the tail and above the rump (see images)
