Collection of the earlier Victorian issues 1857-70 in two Oriel albums, with about 220 classic long types, starting with 70+ imperfs including (used unless otherwise stated) SG.1 four examples in mixed condition, 1d on blued paper four-margin pair (SG.2b), 1859 4d dull rose highly presentable with margins nearly all round, 5d unused four-margin (thin/repair) and used example with large margins, 6d shades incl. pale shade with nice margins and light cancel, very decent 9d with margins on three sides and lightly used (1956 RPS cert), another with similar margins though corner crease, 10d unused with four-margins (one very close), three used examples all with complete margins, and plate proof in black, several 1/- examples incl. used four-margin with RPS cert (1943), used pair with four margins and a superb-appearing unused example, 1/9d unused four-margin and used with excellent margins, 2/- plate proof in black and used with three large margins and just along frame on the fourth. Also several 1857-58 imperf ½d lilac shades mint/unused and one used. Then perf issues incl. 1861-64 1d blue mint (SG.28), 4d both shades each unused and used (SG.30/a), many 6d brown shades incl. mint part o.g. olive-sepia shade (SG.31b), 8d yellow-brown x3 (SG.32a), 9d types SG.25 and rough perf light-brown shade mint part o.g. (SG.33a), 2/- rough perf 14 dull blue mint (regummed?) and rough perf 15 deep dull blue unused (SG.37a), 1862 no wmk 5d lake-brown x2, 1864 1d mauve attractive imperf proof pair, 1867-70 mint/unused 2d shades, 4d unused, 5d olive shades mint, 10d red-orange wmk reversed mint, 1/- reddish-violet mint (2), 2/- shades unused, 1866-68 3d rose mint (SG.60), etc, as well as officials and an attractive range of a dozen different unused postal stationery cut-squares to 2/-. A good opportunity to finish presenting and get the best out of much nice material.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
