1841 1d red-brown Plate 9, four margins with part of adjoining stamp at right, on cover backstamped with May 29th lozenge pmk in red and 'T-P Chief Office' in black, the stamp nicely tied by clear black Maltese cross. SG.AS59, cat. £375.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
