The Chester to Liverpool Coach: The work is enclosed at the back but probably relined. Cleaned and re varnished. Re touching to top right corner approx 3cm by 1.5cm. Delicate and sporadic retouching to other isolated areas within the sky. Small area of retouching beneath the building on the far left hand side within the snow. Superficial scratch to varnish at the top of the carriage running approximately 6cm in length with a few tiny other nicks further towards the top edge. Flaking to varnish within the thatching of the inn on the right hand side. Surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Fine stable craquelure. Otherwise in good, sound condition. Passing By: Enclosed to the reverse, probably relined. Cleaned and re varnished. Relatively minor retouching to top right hand corner and along upper edge. Sporadic retouching upper left hand corner and above the thatched building on the left hand side. Larger more consistent patch of over painting between the building on the left and the horses approx 1.5cm diameter and another smaller patch between the front legs of the leading horse. Re touching to outer edges in general. Covered in a thin layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Paint slightly thin lower left hand corner. Otherwise in good stable condition. The signature is slightly feint on each example.
