An Embroidered Picture, worked by Agnes Whitehead, aged 13, dated 1824, with central cream linen panel painted and embroidered with a view of a cottage with church tower in the background flanked by trees and religious verse above, handwritten to the left and right bottom corners 'Instructed by E Croft' and 'K Lonsdale', panel placed on a black velvet mount embroidered with two tall columns to each side and decorative flower heads and grasses overall within a cream silk sinuous border with intermittent red spots, two cream silk octagonal appliques below with printed and embroidered cherubs riding lions holding a bow and arrow and lute, in a modern maple frame

Auction: The Selected Contents of Bell Hall, 15th Nov, 2024

An eclectic and decorative mixture of antiques and contemporary art will be coming under the hammer this autumn, when the Selected Contents of Bell Hall, Naburn, York, will appear in a single-owner sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 15th November.

The collection was put together over several decades, and draws together good period oak furniture, folk art, 19th century samplers, and Asian art alongside modern and contemporary paintings, ceramics and works of art, many pieces with an animal theme.
