The commemorative 'errors and varieties' section with issues from 1935 to 2010 in six loose-leaf albums from 'fly-speck' to hundreds of listed constant varieties, many in positional margin blocks up to full sheets (folded), all meticulously presented - a real labour of love. The collection begins with a little KGV and KGVI, however the main strength is in pre-decimal QEII with many missing embossings and missing phosphors incl. 1968 Cook 1/9d (cat. £190), inverted watermarks incl. 1965 battle of Britain 1/3d non-phosphor (cat. £190), 1966 landscape 6d x2 (cat. £170 each), as well as distinct blade flaws and other printing faults. The decimal issues with many further listed varieties, through to Christmas 1st class sheets, the 2000s having c.£200 face value.

261 lots including several exciting original collections fresh to the market. Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
