Specialist Collector's QEII Pre-Decimal Mint Collection

Well-displayed and written-up collection of thousands of stamps in three Senator albums, the commemorative issues with some constant varieties (the main pre-decimal commem volumes being in Lot 74), however the main strength here is in definitives from Wildings through to Machins with a plethora of booklets, booklet panes, cylinder blocks, coil leaders and joins, etc. Highlights include (all never hinged) 1½d green pane SB62 cylinder G9., 2d pane SB78 cylinder H6T, several different 2/6d booklets, Waterlow and 2nd DLR castles sets, 1959 phosphor-graphite 2d wmk error SG.605a, 1960-68 phosphor inverted watermarks incl. 2½d two bands, phosphor 1d pane SB42 cylinder F10, 2½d cream paper pane SB88a (cat. £300), etc. A most enjoyable collection.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
