Specialist Collector's Decimal Definitive Errors and Varieties Mint
The decimal Machins section of the collection in three loose-leaf albums, issues from 1971 to 2010 in the same in-depth treatment with focus on booklets and positional blocks, through to the regionals. The early Machins include many missing phosphors, 3p ultramarine imperf pairs (SG.X855b cat. £400, X856b cat. £475), etc, to more recent issues including £2 missing '£' in cylinder number pair with normal (SG.Y1747a, cat. £250). Again the non-listed varieties are excellent, with blade flaws including 1993 5p block with severe scrape erasing values on four stamps, interesting postal forgeries incl. 1993 24p brown and 2006 1st class phosphor booklet panes and cover, etc. Essential viewing for the Machin enthusiast.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
