A very nice range of the old German States arranged on stockpages (separated from the next lot in this sale), the best on small cards as bought individually in generally high quality, with €12,500 of Michel catalogue on the expertized items alone - these are the modern reliable experts mostly BPP. Highlights, all very attractive used, are 1862 Baden 9kr yellow-brown with '177' (Zackenkranz) numeral pmk, Bavaria 1862 18kr and 1876 5pf sage-green, Bremen 1867 5sgr dark olive-green shade Mi.15b, 1863 Lubeck 2½s ultramarine tied on piece, etc. Also extremely good-looking items without signatures, especially Hanover 1863 3pf (Mi.20, SG.34, cat. £1,600), Thurn & Taxis 1867 ¼sgr (Mi.45, SG.38, cat. £1,700), etc. NB the Baden 1862 18kr green and 30kr orange both signed but the 30kr repaired (not included in catalogue total above) and 18kr possibly repaired. Total cat. well over €20,000. Please inspect.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
