Public notices for mailing overseas, with 1840 (24th August) 'Mails for MALTA, GREECE and the IONIAN ISLANDS will be despatched by Steam Vessels, via Falmouth, on the Second Day of every Calendar Month....'; 1871 (5th December) notice for 'Intended Transmission of Indian, &c., Mails, via Calais and Mont Cenis, to Brindisi' mentioning the 'great liberality' of the French Government for concession on the newspaper rate; 1909 (29th June) notice for 'Correspondence for Gibraltar & Morocco' stating the necessity for articles of value to be sent registered. These three are accompanied by a sheaf of 16 different Post Office Daily List circulars with lists of international destinations for regular mail and for private steamers, their corresponding Packet ship names, ports and dates of despatch and (for regular mails) dates due at destination, followed by incidental bulletins such as 'Mails for Pitcairn Island: An opportunity of communicating with Pitcairn Island will shortly be afforded by HMS "Flora,"...Letters...can be sent to overtake the "Flora" at Coquimbo...no later than the evening of the 24th of April.' Inevitably some damage mainly at edges of these materials. Fascinating, and excellent collateral.
