A Regency Silk Embroidered Sampler, worked by Elizabeth Middleton, dated 1822, with a central religious verse beneath a lion and a unicorn, framed within an oval cartouche of embroidered sinuous flower heads of various styles and oak leaves, each corner of the sampler decorated with a pair of birds to the top and a single birds to the lower, framed within laurel leaf wreaths, in a later pink painted frame with shell moulds to the corners

An eclectic and decorative mixture of antiques and contemporary art will be coming under the hammer this autumn, when the Selected Contents of Bell Hall, Naburn, York, will appear in a single-owner sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 15th November.
The collection was put together over several decades, and draws together good period oak furniture, folk art, 19th century samplers, and Asian art alongside modern and contemporary paintings, ceramics and works of art, many pieces with an animal theme.
