A Regency Alphabet Sampler, worked by Mary Musson, dated 1829, includes the verse 'who lives to nature rarely can be poor, who lives to fancy never can be rich', the lower part of the sampler embroidered with a decorative woven basket of strawberries and flower heads, with a floral posy above tied with a ribbon, the rest of the sampler worked in cross-stitch with some small decorative motis, all within a floral border, a burr ? frame

Auction: The Selected Contents of Bell Hall, 15th Nov, 2024
An eclectic and decorative mixture of antiques and contemporary art will be coming under the hammer this autumn, when the Selected Contents of Bell Hall, Naburn, York, will appear in a single-owner sale at Tennants Auctioneers on 15th November.
The collection was put together over several decades, and draws together good period oak furniture, folk art, 19th century samplers, and Asian art alongside modern and contemporary paintings, ceramics and works of art, many pieces with an animal theme.
