Numeral & Cross Issue

1882-1905 collection of the numeral and cross issues on granite paper, written up in an album with well over 200 stamps of which 50 are mint (incl. deep yellow 15cts and a good range of shades) and over 50 on cover/card including multiple and combination frankings for international rates including on illustrated hotel advertising cover, as well as attractive single frankings of the higher values, through to commercial imprint postal stationery, with working accumulation at the back of the album. From the collection of Tony Hoyle, former President of the Helvetia Philatelic Society of Great Britain.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
