Sold for £750
Estimated at £800 - £1,000
The work is in fully restored condition and has been relined, cleaned, restored and varnished in the last 10-15 years. There is evidence of some retouching in places. There is an imperfection in the weave of the canvas just to the left of the lighthouse approx 8cm from the edge of the frame, this seems to run for at least 20-25 cm. There is good thick impasto throughout the work. The relining process appears to have somewhat flattened the impasto in places. There is still crackelure and paint shrinkage in areas, particularly in the lighter areas. It is contained within a reproduction Victorian style gilt plaster and wooden frame with inner gilded slip. 121009
