Stratford, c.1800. 8vo (205 x 124 mm), recent quarter calf, pp. 448 [16] (not 440 [20] as in ESTC), engraved frontispiece (folding), 12 engraved plates including 4 bills of fare of which 2 folding, repairs to frontispiece, one folding plate and final text-leaf 3M4, variable spotting and browning, a few old stains - Melroe (Eliza). An Economical, and New Method of Cookery; describing upwards of Eighty Cheap, Wholesome, and Nourishing Dishes, consisting of Roast, Boiled, and Baked Meats; Stews, Fries, and above Forty Soups, 1st edition, London: for the author, 1798. 8vo (207 x 120 mm), recent quarter calf, 94 pp., a little spotting, a few marks (qty: 3) ESTC N13984 (Lémery), T127998 (Henderson: five copies world-wide), T32410 (Melroe). According to ESTC some copies of Melroe's work contain an eight-page appendix and index, but it is also noted that these may represent a second issue.
