Provenance; in a letter from Mark Griffith author of Collector's Guide to 'Liberated' Adolf Hitler Memorabilia, dated 17 June 2007, he states that he believes the coat was obtained from Ben Swearingen in the 1980's from the Fegelein Estate and Gretl Braun, see letter Gretl Braun (dates) was the sister of Adolf Hitler's girlfriend Eva Braun
